This is a letter of support from Challenges Worldwide:
5th September 2005
To Whom it may concern;
This letter is to certify that Sabine Kampka has been accepted as a volunteer with Challenges Worldwide. Sabine will be going to Ecuador in May 2006 for three months. She will be working with a local NGO who run a variety of innovative and vital services aimed at protecting vulnerable children.
They have two bases. Their centre in Chone has been set up to house, school and provide structure and security for homeless and abandoned children. The young children live in ‘family’ houses, attend the local school and maintain the small farm on site. They also conduct outreach work providing information and support for struggling families.
In Riobamba the children are older and have been referred to the NGO because they have been identified by the police as being at risk of turning to criminality or have already entered that way of life. These children and youths have often had troubled lives to date and their arrival at the centre in Riobamba signals a new start where they are offered structure, responsibility and a chance at a prosperous future. Their outreach work continues here working with troubled communities and assisting them in supporting their vulnerable young people.
Sabine will be primarily working at the latter centre using her skills and experiences of youth work in the UK to help them develop their programmes in Ecuador.
Sabine will not be paid for this project but donates her time and has to fundraise all the costs to cover her food, accommodation, insurance and the organisation of this opportunity. She is required to raise £1950.
As a registered Charity Challenges Worldwide organise projects that are sustainable, in reaction to an identified local need and above all locally motivated and driven. Sabine will be invaluable to this NGO and her innovation and passion for equality will be a huge driving force in moving this organisation on into the future.
Please support Sabine in her fundraising efforts.
Yours Sincerely,
Leigh Young
